Team Introduction

The Biomacromolecular Group was established in the 1980s by Professor Tongyin Yu, the founder of the macromolecular science discipline at Fudan University, and has been dedicated to research on the structure and properties of biomacromolecules for over forty years. Currently led by Professor Zhengzhong Shao, recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the group includes Professor Xin Chen, Associate Professor Jinrong Yao, and Research Professor Shengjie Ling. The group focuses on animal silk proteins, plant proteins, and polysaccharides as research subjects, develops multiscale characterization, modeling, and AI-assisted design methods centered on structure-property relationships and assembly mechanisms, elucidates the regulatory principles of liquid-liquid phase separation and protein assembly, and constructs a series of bio-based material systems for applications in drug delivery, bioimaging, functional materials, and implantable devices.
